Downhole De-Sanding Tools: Protecting Your Electrical Submersible Pumps

As anyone working in the oil and gas industry will know, abrasive sand buildup can be a detrimental factor to the longevity and efficiency of your Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs). When sand and sentiment get caught in your equipment, you run the risk of damage, delays, and costly repairs. CanLift offers downhole de-sanding tools to help prevent these hazards right from the very start. Learn more about how our down hole de-sanding tools can protect your pumps below.

How it works

Our desanding tools are placed above or below an ESP, and then act to keep sand out of the pump. The desander cyclone displaces sand below the pump, sending it to the tailpipe, and the sandguard which is above the ESP captures sand fall back from the tubing.

Benefits

Beyond simply removing sand, there are multiple benefits to having a downhole desander in place. Amongst some of the most prominent are:

Increased efficiency: with no sediment slowing your pumping process, work can continue at an optimal rate without the fear of interruption.

Damage prevention: sand can cause a variety of problems for pumps, including burnt out motors, high torque, broken shafts, and more. Having a CanLift Tool in place decreases the likelihood of costly repairs.

Increased ESP runtime: Without sand entering the ESP, the wear on the impellers is much less which will increase run life. The sand catcher above the ESP stops sand fallback in the tubing for easy starts every time.

Time and money saved: The initial investment on a desanding tool will multiply your revenue in return by avoiding the stoppages and damages mentioned above. Simply put, you get the peace of mind of knowing that your ESP is protected and able to run at full capacity with minimal wear.
